Oil Price: Impact, Consequences and OpportunitiesThe London Business School Energy Club, in collaboration with Columbia Business School Alumni Club of London, will host an evening discussion that reviews the state of our energy industry in the light of “lower for longer” oil prices, and examine the way that companies are responding to this change. To help us address these important questions, three speakers will present for 15 minutes from the point of view of: The industry: Shirish Joshi, MD at PJT Partners (recently spun out of Blackstone) will give the industry overview. Joshi is currently working in the distressed Oil & Gas investment banking and will start the discussion off by outlining the current state of our oil industry and describing some of the responses that the industry has seen, and anticipate to see, as lower oil prices continue at their lower level The Operator: Nick Wayth, VP Competitor Intelligence at BP will describe the impact that oil prices are having on producers, how this changes their outlook and what they are doing to enable them to adapt to this environment The Service Company: Jonathan Carpenter (CBS '10), office of the CEO at Petrofac, will describe the consequences of lower oil prices for a service company, outline options that his industry is using and share a perspective of what it takes to survive in today’s market The Host: David Kotler, the Managing Partner at Access Corporate Finance, an independent financial advisory firm focussing on global energy and infrastructure sectors, will introduce the speakers, facilitate examination of each other’s presentations, invite questions from industry leaders in the audience before finishing with the ever popular “10 seconds to ask 30 seconds to answer” quick fire Q+A session. We are making a special effort to invite members of the turnaround, PE and VC community to the audience so expect good questions, great discussion and even better networking to follow. |
