Summer Start-up Pitch Event
The Angel Network and the Tech & Venture Club of the Columbia Business School Alumni Club in London are pleased to invite you to this jointly organised event.
Timeline 6:30-7pm: Welcome Break Refreshments will be served. 7-8pm: Startup Pitches Three companies will be invited* to do a short pitch and answer investors' questions. The jury will include Claire Pidancet (SpaceNetVentures), Ernst Sack (Blue Bear Capital) as well as William McQuillan (Frontline Ventures) and other members to be announced shortly. 8-9:30pm: Networking Time The rest of the event is dedicated to networking among attendees. Canapés and light refreshments will be served. Relevant Information The Columbia Club warmly thanks WeWork London for generously hosting the event at one of their venues. Claire Pidancet is the Managing Director of SPNV Ltd, trading as Space Net Ventures. With a Masters in Applied Mathematics and Physics from Ecole Centrale Paris (France), Claire started a 14year career in Corporate Banking as a financial engineer, structuring and arranging complex equity, debt and hybrid financings with Natixis in Paris and ABN AMRO in London. She then moved into an international business development and managerial role for Rabobank in London, setting up asset backed financing programs across the UK, France, Italy and Spain. Since completing a dual MBA with Distinction from London Business School (UK) and Columbia Business School (US), she has been advising technology startups, private investors and investment funds for the past six years, developing a deep knowledge and connections within the innovation ecosystem, in the UK and in Europe, and in particular with universities, accelerators, various corporate venture teams and family offices. More recently, she completed her knowledge in Corporate Governance, taking the Financial Times NonExecutive Director Diploma. Ernst Sack is a founding partner at Blue Bear Capital, a venture capital fund focused on digital technologies for the energy supply chain. Prior to Blue Bear, Ernst spent nine years as an investment professional at Riverstone, the world’s leading energy specialist private equity firm with $34 billion in assets under management and over 120 investments. Ernst has participated on the Boards of Directors of over ten conventional and renewable energy companies. He is also a Venture Partner at Cimbria Capital, a private equity and growth capital firm focused on the water and agriculture industries. Since 2012 Ernst has been an active independent investor in technology-enabled businesses disrupting traditional industries. Previously, he was an Analyst in the Mergers & Acquisitions team at Citigroup covering the oil and gas, renewable energy, and transportation sectors. Ernst graduated with honors from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University where he received a degree in Science, Technology & International Affairs and a certificate in Eurasian, Russian & East European Studies. He received his M.B.A. from Columbia Business School and London Business School through a joint degree program. William McQuillan is a Partner at Frontline Ventures and was the youngest partner of a European VC fund when Frontline was founded. After leaving university, William was one of the founding employees of Ondra Partners, a startup investment-banking boutique. Within 18 months, Ondra grew from a four-person team to 70+ employees across London, New York, and Paris and was named the top investment banking boutique globally by Euromoney. William’s work at Ondra led him to discover his passion for rethinking an industry, and he shortly thereafter co-founded Osmoda, a fashion e-commerce company creating a new way for young and up-and-coming designers to sell online. During the same time, William was also the London Ambassador for the Thousand Network, a community of over 1000 innovators under 30. William is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin, and a Kauffman fellow. |
